CULTURE AND FESTIVALS

The cultural life of Loja is varied and xomprehensive. Apart form its numerous fiestas, including, of course, Easter Week, which has been declared an Event of National Tourist Interest in Andalucía, the municipality contains the Alcazaba Museum (with its numerous invaluable exhibits), and the Centre for Historical Interpretation and the Environmental Interpretation Centre in Riofrío, which provides an interesting perspective on the area's natural resources. A Centre for the Interpretation of Water is soon to be opened which will demonstrate the relationship between Loja and this important natural resource.

The cultural calendar also includes numerous events, concerts and festivals which take place throughout the year includint the "Va de Calle" International Performing Arts Festival, and Palma Rock. There are also a whole range of exhibitions which are held in both public and private spaces.
